Cotillion 2018

So now I’m going to introduce you to a part of my life that is not entertainment-related, and it was something I had both the fortune and the misfortune to be born into. The Cotillion is an event that happens once a year, and it’s for “society people” that used to be a much bigger deal than it is today. “Society” doesn’t necessarily mean you’re rich (i.e. ME) but some of the people there, are FILTHY rich. Just because you’re society doesn’t mean you’re rich, and if you’re rich, you’re not necessarily society either. My family has been living in California for five generations, and my oldest US ancestor (from Ireland) came to America before the Mayflower, in the 1600s. That just means that my family is extremely old in terms of it’s US history. So all that amounts to the fact that I go to an extravagant party every year. When I was 18, I “came out” to society, meaning we had an antiquated ceremony and I wore a white dress and had an escort, and waltzed. VERY odd in today’s world. So this year I went, and I wore my mother’s old dress from the 1980’s, which has flowers on it. I think I rocked it. And I got some champagne, so that was a plus. Was it free, you ask? No. No it was not. So I only had one glass.
