City Lights Bookstore

So Matthew returned to have Christmas with me and my family this year and it’s a blast! My Dad and my sister and I used to walk all over San Francisco when I was growing up, and my Dad still does. He’s a big walker. So my Dad and I took Matthew on one of our epic walks, to go get Chinese takeout, from this neighborhood Chinese place in Chinatown, called Good Mong Kok Bakery, which I HIGHLY recommend. All their stuff is fresh, piping hot, right out of the bamboo containers. We got dumplings and steamed pork buns…Matthew had never had a steamed pork bun before, and he was cautious but then wolfed it down. He didn’t join me and my Dad on the Shu Mi, though, which is steamed pork dumplings. He just couldn’t get behind the texture. But we LOVE them. So we walked all the way there, which took like two hours, because Matthew and Daddy also wanted to stop in every art gallery we passed Downtown, and then we kept walking while eating our LOOT. And then we ended up by North Beach, and my Dad took us into the historic City Lights bookstore, which has so much HISTORY in it, like Alan Ginsberg did readings of his stuff there, for example. And Matthew loved it so much, and we all had a great time. The end.
