St. Genesius

Matt’s mom Paula got us a little plastic figurine of Saint Genesius; St. Genesius is the patron saint of actors, comedians, and secretaries. Like what, how random!? And on the package was his martyrdom story which I just HAVE to share because it’s hilarious:

So Genesius was a Roman playwright who thought everything was hysterical and he didn't take anything seriously. He heard about “these strange Christian people” and decided that he wanted to write a play about them. So he infiltrated a Christian group, went so far as to get baptized to not lose his cover. Then he took his findings and wrote and starred in his play about Christians. DURING the play, he was playing a character who is baptized and he then gets STRUCK BY THE HOLY SPIRITTT for real during the play, and then converts to Christianity for real. Then he went to the emperor and tried to explain to him that Christianity was awesome, and so he was executed.

PHENOMENAL. LOVE IT. I relate so hard to St. Genesius. Going full in cognito just to get info for his play is 100% what I would do. Rock on, Genesius. Rock on.

Anyway, now I move the figurine around the house and leave him in random places to annoy Matthew. When either one of us is being unproductive, I’ll place St Genesius on one of our scripts or postcards or headshot or something to remind everyone to stay motivated. Just like Genesius.
