Hold Up At Amtrak
So today at rehearsal, we were down the street from the theater at the Maverick Warehouse, picking out props and set pieces with the crew and Brian, when we hear sirens…we go outside and an amtrak train is sitting on the tracks, surrounded by police cars! The warehouse is in a cul-de-sac right next to the amtrak station, so we were walled in. We tried to get back out, but policemen stopped us, because they had guns out and didn’t want any civilian casualties to happen. What was going on?! We had to finish building our set! Well, apparently there was a man on the train who took the conductor hostage with a pitchfork. A pitchfork?! And he was high on bath salts, so they shot him with tranquilizers but it took FOUR to take him down. Unbelievable. The whole ordeal took about four hours, because the cops had to wait for the LA sheriff to come, because apparently the train came from LA, so even though it was on Fullerton territory, it was still a LA matter, so the Fullerton sheriff couldn’t do anything till the LA sheriff came. And the FBI was there too, because of some other legality of trains…very long day. We sat outside the warehouse by our cars, watching and eating tortilla chips with salsa. Sometimes, when you’re rehearsing a show, you find another show, like a real like wacko taking people hostages with pitchforks. They eventually got the guy off the train, no one was harmed, and we could finish our work. How random!
