Closing in Triumph!

So that’s it…we had our final show at Maverick! It was such an AMAZING run! We had reviewers come, old friends, people we’d never met before who wanted to shake our hands…and family! My parents came, my sister came, Matt’s parents came and brought twenty of their friends. It means so much to us to have this kind of support, and we even made some money off this one, which was a plus! We had numerous veterans come, which is so important to us to have both civilians and veterans see our shows together. Our whole mission statement with the Foxhole Theater Co. is to bridge that gap between veterans and civilians. And we were able to see that gap close a little bit after our shows. We had people waiting to see us after the show which is always a good sign! One night, we had two Vietnam veterans in the audience, and I tell you, I was a little scared. Not OF them (although they were in motorcycle jackets with long grey beards, a little intimidating) but I was terrified that they wouldn’t like it. Veterans like Matthew who served in some heavy combat in Afghanistan, look up so much to the Vietnam Veterans. They had to overcome insurmountable odds almost, not just in the jungle, but also when they came home from the war and dealt with a lot of Americans who blamed them for the war that they had been DRAFTED into…like that makes sense at all. So anyway, they LIKED it, and came up to us afterwards. And that meant a lot.

It also meant a lot that Joel Beers, the theater critic at OC Weekly came up to us after the show and did a PROFILE PIECE on us and our theater company. We sat there for about an hour being interviewed, and it was glorious. Pictured below is a snapshot of his piece which was released the morning after.
