Matt's Marine Buddies!
So we had a very special audience the other night…we’ve been having some reviewers come, which is incredible, but one experience tops the rest…two of Matthew’s buddies from the marine corps, who he hadn’t seen in YEARS came to see the show to surprise him!! Not only just his buddies, but buddies that I have heard about for yearsss! One was Dustin Ivers “Dusty” who Matthew had told me was just the nicest guy around, the guy you’d “want in your hole” in military speak, which means the guy you want in your foxhole, the guy who you know will watch your back. I’d also heard tales of his good humor and brightness, the kind of person who it feels good to be around. The other one was…well he was the God of War. And I’m not exaggerating this. That’s what Matt and everyone else called him. His real name was Cunningham (because everyone in the military calls each other by their last names. I still don’t know what his real first name is.) And Cunningham was Matt and Dusty’s superior, their sergeant. And Matthew had told me for years how this was the guy who kept him alive in Afghanistan. He led these men through hell in Afghanistan, and what’s more, he not only survived, but he kept all the guys in his squad alive too. And I met these two men, and I had no idea who they were, and then Matthew said, this is Dusty and God of War. And my jaw dropped and I was star struck, shaking their hands. I know it meant the world to Matthew that they came. The absolute world. Pictured in the photo below, left to right, Matthew, Dusty, and the God of War.
